Quintiles Transnational Corp. Names IntraLinks Exclusive
Online Workspace Provider
Quintiles to Leverage IntraLinks® On-Demand Workspaces™ to
Speed the Start-Up of Clinical Trials Worldwide
New York
November 28, 2007
The world’s largest contract research organization, Quintiles
Transnational Corp., has signed a strategic agreement to make IntraLinks® On-Demand
Workspaces™ available to its worldwide pharmaceutical customer
base to increase the speed and efficiency of managing the critical
start-up phase for clinical trials. IntraLinks, through its On-Demand
Workspaces, enables users to upload, monitor and exchange critical
documents with multiple parties around the world when email, fax
and overnight shipping are not secure or efficient enough. Quintiles
has helped develop or commercialize each of the top 30 best-selling
pharmaceuticals and nine of the top 10 biotech medications.
The
start-up phase of a clinical trial begins with the distribution
of numerous
regulatory documents to an ever-increasing number of
clinical investigative sites located throughout the world. The
distribution and collection of documents by sponsors or contract
research organizations
(CRO) such as Quintiles, are regulated by the FDA and other
world regulatory bodies. IntraLinks enables investigative sites,
CROs
and sponsors to share information online through a secure, compliant
repository, and to reduce the time in which to facilitate the
first patient visit and help streamline the flow of documentation
throughout
the trial.
“As a market leader, Quintiles’ customers count on
us to stay on the leading edge of technology and provide solutions
that reduce the drug development timeline, while still meeting strict
regulatory requirements. The sheer volume of documentation necessary
to begin a clinical trial is cumbersome at best. We are partnering
with IntraLinks to provide our customers with a best-of-class document
distribution and management solution,” said Jamie Macdonald,
Senior Vice President, Quintiles’ Head of North America Clinical
Operations.
“We are delighted that Quintiles has chosen to partner with
IntraLinks to realize substantial time savings and simplify the
growing logistical complexity of clinical trials. By utilizing IntraLinks’ On-Demand
Workspaces, Quintiles is leveraging proven technology that can more
efficiently and effectively distribute business-critical documentation
and ultimately, decrease the cycle time to commence the trials,” said
David Espenshade, Vice President for Life Sciences at IntraLinks.
