Chicago Hospital Deploys InnerWireless' System
Broadband Wireless Business Magazine
January 25, 2005
Children's Memorial Hospital of Chicago installed InnerWireless'
broadband distribution system to manage its wireless applications.
The system, which went live in August of 2004, enables hospital
personnel to collect data at the patient's bedside and remotely
monitor the administration of medication.
The installation at Children's Memorial Hospital helps with a hostile
radio frequency environment.
"ItÍs very difficult for wireless signals to travel in a hospital,
with the steel superstructure, thick concrete walls, metal-plated
floors, and even lead around the radiology rooms," stated William
Brook, director of information technology at ChildrenÍs Memorial
Hospital. "We wanted a system that could overcome those barriers
and give us a consistent, uniform wireless signal and InnerWireless
allows us to achieve this result."
InnerWireless' system supports various wireless applications, including
wireless LANs and personal communications services (PCS), as well
as two-way radios used by maintenance and security personnel.
Other facilities that have installed the InnerWireless system include
the Time Warner Center in Manhattan, New York CityÍs Rockefeller
Center Concourse, and the New Charlotte Arena for the NBAÍs Charlotte
Bobcats.
