BUSINESS WIRE
October 26, 2005
Ample Communications, a leading provider of communications silicon
for
wire line network systems, today announced it has been awarded the
Best of Show "Rising Star" award at this year's Network
Systems Design
Conference (NSDC). Ample was chosen for its new Redhawk IC, the
industry's first two-port 10GE intelligent MAC with embedded 10 Gbps
XFI SerDes, multiprotocol congestion management and oversubscription
technology.
"Ample's Redhawk was chosen as the Rising Star because its key
features make it the ideal solution to enable wide deployment of 10
Gigabit Ethernet networks in enterprise and carrier networks,"
said Dave Bursky, editor-at-large for Electronic Design magazine,
and one of the award judges. "It has distinctive, advanced features
that set it apart in the 10 Gbps Ethernet MAC IC space."
Redhawk is the first semiconductor device to incorporate multiple
10 Gbps SerDes and MAC layer logic into a single device for reduced
footprint, cost and power. It is the only device on the market to
deliver intelligent statistical multiplexing support at 10 Gbps line
rates, key in enabling the wide deployment of cost-effective 10 Gigabit
Ethernet networks. Redhawk is also the only device with MPLS ready
Quality of Service (QoS) at the MAC layer, to support loss-less 80KM
reach for MPLS core networks.
"Our goal at the outset was to provide enterprise networks with
a component that integrates multiple 10 Gbps SerDes and MAC layer
logic into a single device for reduced footprint, cost and power.
With the introduction of Redhawk, Ample set the industry standard
for unsurpassed price-performance in 10 Gigabit Ethernet ICs for enterprise
networks. We are proud to have our accomplishments recognized,"
said Marek Tlalka, vice president of marketing for Ample "We're
committed to delivering superior-quality devices now and in the future,
so Ample will maintain its lead in the Ethernet MAC space."
