Ample Communications More Than Doubles Shipments
in One Quarter;
Customer Sales Increase to a Quarter Million
Gigabit Ethernet Ports
FREMONT, CA
BUSINESS WIRE
August 8, 2005
Ample Communications, a leading provider of
communications silicon for wire line network systems, today announced
that to-date it has shipped over 250,000 1GE MAC ports from its Harrier
family of chips, more than doubling the number of shipments since
June 2005. The Harrier is a triple speed multiport Ethernet MAC with
intelligent classification and oversubscription support.
"We have had great success in the last couple of months with
our shipments as more of our customers achieve production status.
I believe the industry leading feature set and performance of the
Harrier is validated by the number of shipments to both first-time
and repeat customers," said Marek Tlalka, vice president of marketing
for Ample Communications. "We look forward to continued success
in the market with a number of new features and product offerings
that we are working on."
The Harrier chips are targeted for Ethernet switches, security appliances,
routers and access devices in enterprise and metro applications, and
provide cost-effective system deployments with its unique statistical
multiplexing features. The product family consists of three devices:
Harrier-24 (A2510) which aggregates twenty-four 10/100/1G Ethernet
ports, Harrier-12 (A2511) which aggregates twelve 10/100/1G ports,
and Harrier-24LS (A2512) which aggregates twenty-four 10/100 ports.
These chips support industry standard RGMII/RMII interfaces on the
line-side and the SPI-4.2 interface on the system-side. The devices
include on-chip packet memory, multirate Ethernet MACs, flexible oversubscription
processing logic and an innovative port redundancy protection support.
