Alien Technology Names Former Retalix
Exec
As Business Development VP

Alien Technology Corp. said Patrick Ervin has joined the company as
Vice President of business development focusing on the retail industry.
Ervin was formerly executive VP of sales and marketing at enterprise
software company Retalix USA. He will lead Alien's sales, marketing
and product management initiatives aimed at driving the use of its
radio frequency identification technology in retail supply chains.
In his former role at Retalix, which provides supply chain software
for the grocery and convenience store industries, Ervin was responsible
for the planning, implementation and management of sales and marketing
strategies and for the development and management of strategic partnerships.
Prior to Retalix, he was president of Lyceum Interactive. He has also
been a sales executive at International Business Machines Corp., where
he was responsible for many retail accounts including Wal-Mart Stores
Inc., Albertson's Inc. and Limited Brands Inc.
Alien provides RFID products for customers in government, retail,
manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, transportation and other industries.
Using its patented manufacturing process, Alien makes RFID tags and
readers for applications such as supply chain management, logistics
and anti-counterfeiting.
Founded in 1995, the Morgan Hill, Calif.-based company has raised
about $143 million from investors including Sevin Rosen Funds, Rho
Ventures and New Enterprise Associates.
