Ample Communications Bolsters Management Team

New Vice Presidents to Guide Frame Processing Company
Through Next Stage of Growth

FREMONT, Calif.,
September 24, 2002

Ample Communications, pioneer of Frame Processing silicon for data communications, today announced it has enhanced its management team in preparation for wide acceptance of its Frame Processing silicon solutions and anticipation of the Company's next stage of growth. To meet these demands, Ample Communications has added David Bridgeford as vice president of finance and controller, and has promoted Marek Tlalka to vice president of marketing and Ravi Baddam to vice president of information technology. The Company also has named Jagdish Rao as managing director of its Ample India Design Center located in Bangalore, India.

Ample Communications develops merchant silicon solutions that enable data communications system developers to deliver products that make efficient use of existing carrier infrastructure. The Company is shipping two devices in volume and begins sampling its new Blackbird device this fall. Early adopter customers are currently incorporating the Blackbird device into system line cards. The device is ideal for applications that will initially offer multi-port 10 Gigabit SONET solutions and facilitates a smooth migration to 40 Gigabit transmission simply by changing the optics on the line card. The company has received $38 million in two rounds of venture financing and employs more than 85 people in the United States and at its design facility in India.

"We are building a company that holds value for its customers, its employees and its investors, and I am confident that these additions to our executive staff will address both external market requirements and internal needs as we grow the company to its next level, " said Vish Akella, co-founder and CEO of Ample Communications. "Marek Tlalka has driven the marketing and sales effort from zero to our current position as the leading provider of Frame Processing merchant silicon solutions for data communications system developers. Ravi Baddam has been director of IT for Ample Communications since its inception, and was responsible for setting up our design centers in Fremont and Sacramento, Calif. and in Bangalore, India."
